We visited the farm today, mostly because I wanted to let the kids play at the playground but didn't want to push all three of them for hours. I think the farm has the only playground around with no swingsets. There are plenty with just two swings (oh, curse ye!), but to have no swings is a major tick in the "plus" column.
We visited the farm store, where the store manager noted the helpfulness of the Davis-Ross children (sleeping! carrying a cake! carrying our apple! all so happy!), and as she helped us to the counter she gave us a slice of pizza, to which Peter said, "there are more special things for today, Lucy!"
Luckily the manager had returned to her office by the time Lucy growled at the cashier who wanted to weigh her half-eaten apple. Seriously, don't get between this girl and her snack.
The sun was strong, and we stopped to re-lotion. We may have to fight a few battles with these children, but sunscreen and medicine never will be among them.
We also stopped to visit the animals on our way out. We gleaned corn from the ground to feed the chickens and then watched the cow bully the pig out of the pieces of Lucy's apple, long abandoned and dropped in the mulch. It was the pig and the cow that made the highlights of the day, a day which included baby sheep* and chicks and a cookie and that free pizza.
*Kevin called them "baby lambs" today, and Lucy said, "no, you mean 'baby sheep.'" Right you are, little one.
