We had our first CSA pick-up yesterday.
Some dramatics, including: the case of children who fell asleep on the drive to the farm.
Also: the case of children who thought we were getting strawberries. But we're not.
Also: the case of the girl who WANTS THIS MEAT TO BRING HOME!
Also: the case of the children made cranky by the 95-degree heat. (But it feels like 105!)
I have every reason to believe next week's visit will be a bit more cheerful.
farm-fresh oregano, eaten by the handful
Until then, I'm off to figure out how to use our 8 pounds of greens. We've already: frozen 3 pounds of spinach, dumped off a bunch of salad mix at our neighbor's, made two batches of yummy kale chips, and eaten salad for lunch and dinner. Twice.
