He's a fan!
I read a study that suggested children share their mother's food preferences (rather than their father's). It's totally true in our family. Peter, Lucy, and now Thomas spend their entire day eating food that makes Kevin a little queasy. It's funny to watch Kevin come up with a new excuse each time Peter offers him a bite of his eggs or Lucy tries to give him a hummus pretzel.
Also, Lucy might be a supertaster.* She's certainly a supersmeller. She can sniff out yummy things from a room away. A few nights ago, I was steaming broccoli for her dinner and making a batch of hot fudge for children-are-asleep ice cream snacks. She came into the kitchen and said, "there chocolate chips in my broccoli? My broccoli smells like chocolate chips."
If she finds you eating something, and doesn't see the source of your food (example: plate of food in front of you, apple in hand), she'll greet you with a brusque "what you eating? you eating something yummy?"
And if you happen to sneak some of the chocolate from the adults-only secret chocolate stash, she'll be on you in a moment, sniffing your breath and asking, "why you smell like chocolate?"
*Actually, I just read the Wikipedia article for supertaster and she's actually the opposite of a supertaster. The supertaster list of foods commonly disliked reads like Lucy's List of Most Favorite Foods Ever.
