Peter was still uncharacteristically sick on Thursday.* While he's definitely the Davis-Ross most likely to get sick, he's also probably the most cheerful sick child you'll ever meet. It's sad, but could be much worse.
The days are long when you spend them on the sofa, to tired and sick to move very far, and so we had a scenery change and moved outside, for a little sunshine and fresh air and some art projects, too.
The slow, sick-boy pace of the past few days has been exhausting for us all. Isn't it funny how moving slowly tires you out? Even when we have lazy, scaled-back days, they're not this slow. Peter needed so much assistance in entertaining himself, and I realized just how nice it is that Peter and Lucy (and Thomas, too!) can entertain themselves for nice chunks of our days.
I was a little relieved that Peter was able to stomach (ha, ha, pun intended) a little outside time. If not for his health, than for the entertainment factor for his brother and sister, who bolted to the door at the first mention of "going outside."
The children don't really know the word "bored." It's not one we use often. (We're rarely bored, I suppose.) But there were many, many moments of boredom these past few days, expressed in funny ways. Toward the end of our day, Peter moaned, "Daddy's working SUPER LONG today!" Kevin wasn't working any longer than usual, but Peter was correct - man, did Daddy work SUPER LONG that day. It's hard when each minute stretches into two.
*My current hypothesis is that he has West Nile Virus. I'm hopeful it's WNV, because there are some symptoms (muscle weakness and imbalance) that seem a little scary otherwise. We're giving him a few days to see if these issues resolve before going to the doctor.
