(Thomas plays peek-a-boo, says "shhhh", and says "twinkle, twinkle")
It's little surprise that Thomas learned to say "shhhh" today, a silencing finger to his mouth, while we were at church. Perhaps he's heard it there once or twice before?
What is surprising is that, in the chaos of keeping three little ones quiet and happy and not tumbling off kneelers and onto unsuspecting parishioners; in the midst of trying to listen to God's word and pray; among the constant motion and noise that is our children, both Kevin and I caught Thomas's imitation of me.
I'm so thankful that we can find these moments, Kevin and I, amid all the other stuff in our lives, to sit back and see our children. Our parenting lately hasn't exactly been shared; it's mostly one of us with all of them or a divide-and-conquer strategy. This was a little reminder that parenting, like almost everything else in life, is made better with a partner.
