To take full advantage of the fall and our apple unit, we visited an apple orchard near Maelynn, Aunt Brey and Uncle Sean. Lucky for us, Maelynn and Aunt Brey were able to come picking, too.
This farm featured a small playground with swings and a "fast slide," as well as a few goats. In retrospect, I should have just picked up a basket of apples from the farm store and let the kids play on the playground, but what was I to know? Picking apples is fun; playing with cousins is more fun.
Later, we drove over to Maelynn's house for a little cousin play time/babysitting. Playing at Maelynn's house was such a spectacular treat the kids didn't mind that we had to reschedule Thomas's cake-with-friends party until later in the week.
The kids were so excited to see their cousin, which makes me think we need to add more of these spur-of-the-moment play dates to our schedule. (Ahem. Is that possible?) As Lucy pointed out while driving home, "we don't get to see Maelynn so often." It's true, and a shame, because these kids are nuts about their cousin. And I think she might like them a little, too.
Oh, and although all of my days now are blurring together since I'm so far behind, I'm pretty sure but not positive that this is the time I fell 95 percent asleep while driving home and had to stop for a coffee. It's not entirely my fault - everyone else was asleep in the car, too.
