from Lucy's baptism
a classier set-up than a plastic cup and a bathtub
also, I'm pretty sure Father Oscar didn't pee in the holy water
while I can guarantee Peter and Thomas peed in the bathtub
from the Catechism of the Catholic Church
(1256) The ordinary ministers of Baptism are the bishop and priest, and, in the Latin Church, also the deacon. In case of necessity, anyone, even a non-baptized person, with the required intention, can baptize, by using the Trinitarian baptismal formula.
The kids were a'baptizing again, this time in Grammy and Poppy's bathtub. Perhaps it was the three cups they had on hand? Perhaps it was our discussion of Thomas's somewhat upcoming baptism? Who knows for sure, but what I do know is I turned toward the sink to paste up their toothbrushes and the next thing I heard was:
"Thomas, I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy and of the Spirit."
Is it by God's grace that Lucy has her own twist on the Trinity? Or just a sign that maybe we shouldn't wait a year to have this baby baptized, and that the Holy Spirit taking matters into his own hands?
