The post-hurricane weather was nothing short of amazing, and since we'd been inside all weekend we were happy for a playground escape. I brainstormed a good non-muddy location and decided we'd try the Freedom Playground again. Perhaps the rubberized floor wouldn't be 10,000 degrees, and Thomas could crawl around and have some fun?
We sent an email to friends and received emails from other friends inviting us to go to the playground, and that's when I should have realized HOLY COW THIS PLACE WILL BE INSANE! But, I didn't. Instead, I let Thomas and Lucy know that Baby Fiona would be joining us too, and the kids couldn't have been more excited to get out the front door.
First, the good news: it was fun. Thomas found all sorts of interesting places to climb and play, and especially liked hiding under the raised play structure. He also found good tunnels for sitting it and shouting "aah!", his favorite tunnel activity.
Peter and Lucy also had a great time, running with Colin, Quinn and Rhys, making obstacle courses and dodging up and down the playgrounds different slides and climbing parts.

Lucy was so very thrilled when Fiona arrived. She diligently followed Fiona around, talking to her and - when allowed - trying to pick Fiona up. Of special note was Fiona's hat with a flower, which Fiona kept taking off. Silly baby! Doesn't she know she has a PINK HAT with a PINK FLOWER?!?!
The fun was hampered in part by the sheer number of children which made games like "let's play hide and seek!" and "let's run away as far as we can!" go from good fun to a good cause for a heart attack.
Another good cause for a heart attack: the time I saw Thomas nearly stuff an apple with a bee on it inside his mouth. Yikes! Ninja mama reflexes came in handy then, although Thomas still may be wondering why I swiped that apple out of his hand and replaced it with a pretzel.
