Our last visit to the Garden State Discovery Museum (a.k.a. Grammy and Poppy's museum, since it's just down the road from their house) was much, much quieter than our last visit. At times, we were the only ones in an exhibit! It's exactly how I like our museum visits to go. With Grammy on hand to play with the kids (and escort them to the restroom, as needed), it was one of our easiest museum outings ever.
some highlights:
Playing with the blowing air in the wind machine; Peter looked like a contestant on America's Next Top Model gone awry, while Thomas loved to watch the balls fly
The "ballet" room, as Lucy calls it, or the dress-up stage. I caught Peter and Lucy having a secret pow-wow backstage while getting dressed.
The newscasting room, where Thomas read the news and Lucy tried to not get eating by the lions.
Ice hockey! For some reason, it's Peter's favorite sport. He was recruited (against his will) to play goalie, but loved it.
This museum is older, and it shows. But we really have a great time with each visit, and we might even learn a thing or two. Later that night, in the comfy-coziness of our own home, I heard a coyote howl outside the window. For real!* Peter was later able to identify the animal sound for me, thanks to a "nighttime sound mixing board" activity at the museum.
*Kevin heard it too. We hear all manners of curious animal noises outside, but I think this was our first coyote.
