So.
Thomas will, when he wakes in the morning, leave me and go find Peter and Lucy. Now that he can open doors himself, he's happy to climb out of bed, open the door, and look for his best friends.
And frankly, I'm glad that he can do this himself and that I don't need to leave the down cocoon warmth of my early-morning bed. Sometimes, I pretend I don't hear him leave. Sometimes, I really don't hear him leave.
Sometime - perhaps two weeks ago - Thomas must have woken crazy early. Around 3? Anyway, this is what I know: I know that he came back into bed with his shoes. One was wet, the other was dry. The only source of water was the toilet, so I have to assume that he dunked his shoe in the toilet, pulled it out, and then brought them to me.
Aside from pee-shoe shenanigans, playing in the toilet isn't exactly the safest of toddler pastimes. I put one of those door handle locks on the inside of his bedroom door, which has thoroughly frustrated him. (He's pointed to it and cried "no!") I have to believe it will keep him a little safer, even if I will have to rouse myself from the warmth to let him play in the morning.
